We are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the sacrifice that Kiltyclogher native, Seán Mac Diarmada made to establish a Free Ireland Seán Mac Diarmada (27 January 1883 - 12 May 1916) was an Irish political activist and revolutionary leader. He was one of the seven leaders of the Easter Rising of 1916, which he helped to organise as a member of the Military Committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB) and was a signatory to the Proclamation of the Irish Republic. He was executed for his part in the Rising at the age of thirty-three on 12 May 1916.The town will be in celebratory mode and a large parade is planned followed by an evening of celebration including Irish music, dance and memories. If you'd like to feel part of it all and have a keepsake from this very special occasion, we will assign you a one square metre section of the street pavement for a small consideration of €50.00. Each assignment comes with an individual Certificate of Assignment that will be a special piece of history to hold and cherish.
